1. What the system is used for
This system is used during court roleplay. Staff can make the Judge, Prosecutor, or Defense/Lawyer speak through courtroom dolls. Staff can also set charges and calculate a verdict.
The defendant can use courtroom buttons to speak through the lawyer and to receive the final verdict.
2. Staff HUD
Authorized staff wear the Court HUD.
The HUD has these buttons:

Charges
Judge
Press Judge to open a text box.
Write what the judge should say and press submit.
The Judge doll will say the text in local chat.
Prosecutor
Press Prosecutor to open a text box.
Write what the prosecutor should say and press submit.
The Prosecutor doll will say the text in local chat.
Defense
Press Defense to open a text box.
Write what the defense/lawyer should say and press submit.
The Defense/Lawyer doll will say the text in local chat.
3. Typing indicator
When a text box is open, the relevant doll shows green hover text:
speaking...
This means someone is currently writing text for that role.
The hover text disappears when the text is submitted. If the text box is closed without submitting, the hover text disappears automatically after about 2 minutes.
4. Setting charges
Staff use the Charges button on the HUD to prepare the verdict.
The system uses six offence categories this are linked to the Law:
The law is divided into 11 main categories.
Example: §1.3.D
§1.3.D refers to a crime under the Sex Act,
§1.3.D refers to the crime= Rape.
§1.3.D refers to the sentence you will recieve for this crime, see below:
A = 3–6 months
B = 7–12 months
C = 13–60 months
D = 60–120 months
E = 121–215 months
F = 216–300 months
Each charge is calculated randomly within its range.
Example:
A can become 3, 4, 5, or 6 months.
F can become any value from 216 to 300 months.

A+ / B+ / C+ etc. Adds one charge

6. When the verdict is ready
After staff presses Done, the system calculates the verdict.
The server will say in local chat:
The verdict is ready, click "Get your verdict"
The defendant must then click the courtroom button called:
Get your verdict
7. Receiving the verdict
When the defendant clicks Get your verdict, they will be asked to enter their full name.
After submitting the name, the Judge doll will read the verdict in local chat.
Example:
John Doe, has been found guilty for the listed offence(s). You are hereby sentenced to 2 years 4 months in prison for this/these offense(s). (28 real online days)
If the calculated sentence is over 300 months, the verdict becomes:
life imprisonment without possibility of release
Example:
John Doe, has been found guilty for the listed offence(s). You are hereby sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of release. (454 real online days)
After the verdict has been read once, the verdict is cleared from the system.
If the defendant clicks again, they will get:
SYSTEM: No sentence has been calculated yet or you have already received your sentence.
8. Defendant Lawyer Button
The defendant can speak through the Defense/Lawyer doll by using the lawyer button in the courtroom.
The defendant must be within 1.5 meter from the button
If they are too far away, they will get:
SYSTEM: You must be within 1.5 meters of the lawyer button.
If they are close enough, a text box opens. The text they submit will be spoken by the Defense/Lawyer doll.
9. Normal court workflow
Recommended order:
1. Staff uses Judge and Prosecutor during the trial.
2. Defendant use the Lawyer button.
3. Staff opens Charges on the HUD.
4. Staff adds the correct A–F charges.
5. Staff presses Done.
6. The system says: The verdict is ready, click "Get your verdict"
7. Defendant clicks Get your verdict.
8. Defendant enters full name.
9. Judge doll reads the verdict.
10. The verdict and charge counters are reset automatically.
10. Common problems
If the HUD does not react:
Make sure you are authorized to use the court system. SL - Staff must be your active group
If the Charges menu says access denied:
You are not authorized to use the charge system.SL - Staff must be your active group
If the defendant cannot use the lawyer button:
Move closer to the button. You must be within 1.5 meters.
If the verdict button says no verdict is ready:
Staff has not calculated a verdict yet, or the verdict has already been received.
